Thanks to everyone who brushed off their snow-covered airplanes to trek to Massey, Maryland for our annual Open Hangar Party. The runway was a bit softer
than anyone expected. Normally, there are few issues a day after rain, but this time, it was rain and lingering snow that made conditions soft, especially for the
heavier aircraft. The snow, grass, and the ruts made for a strange aerial view, indeed (photo below).
Despite runway conditions, the weather was nice and there were an estimated 50 aircraft in attendance, compared to last year's ONE, due to windy conditions in 2008.
As always, there was plenty of drive-in traffic from local residents and pilots who decided not to brave conditions.
Again this year, the Museum supplied the main courses as well as the hot cider and coffee.
And, many of those attending brought Hors d'Oeurves, etc. It is a formula that has worked very well. The more people that come, the more food is
brought. Everyone has plenty to eat and none gets wasted.
